This week was about writing the opening scenes of the first act. I open the script by showing Musa's fate. He gets trapped in a hurricane and has to throw his riches overboard to keep from going under. The scenes after show Musa as an 8-year-old boy and how he deals with his father leaving with the king to do a voyage. I'm trying to show that even as a boy he was prideful. He constantly competes with his older brother, Suleyman. I want it to be an epic tragedy, so I'm putting that pride flaw in early. The first act I compact the first 30 years of Musa's life in it. I show him as a boy, a teenage warrior, and a young man. I know it's going to be a 180 page draft when completed. 45 pages for Act 1. 90 pages for Act 2. 45 pages for Act 3. I know the page count is high, but I think I can pull it off.
